A seahorse, a wild horse, a domesticated horse and a unicorn…
“A seahorse, a domesticated horse, a wild horse, and a unicorn…” enter a bar?
Not really; however, that’s how many jokes start. Only that this, here, is not going to be funny. However, it will be as deep as the depth of the ocean, home to seahorses and other beautiful creatures alike. This is about what most of us feel when it comes to quitting smoking or vaping! I will keep it short – the book is the long version, in case you need one.
Let’s start with the actual horses. The domesticated horses have blinders that don’t allow them to see reality fully. Likewise, smokers have mental blinders that don’t allow them to understand that they can easily end smoking, vaping, or chewing tobacco.
And then, when one ties a domesticated horse to a pole, the horse will stay, no matter how flimsy that pole is. The horse doesn’t get that it has so much power and that it can leave at any point in time! Similarly, a smoker/vaper who struggles to quit is not aware yet of their great force, capable of ending their dependency …. yesterday! (But seriously… you can end it now!)
As a smoker, I identified with a domesticated horse. The moment I quit cold turkey, yes, I was wild! I have become an amazing, wild horse, there’s no doubt!
What about seahorses? Unfortunately, this photo happened! Everyone agrees that a seahorse with a Q-tip is not something desirable and it goes against the laws of nature. Well, a human with a cigarette or a vape is not a harmonious pairing either! Guess what, then? When you quit tobacco, you go natural!

Next… we have the unicorn. The subtitle of the book is, “Be a unicorn!” I wouldn’t want to spoil it and explain what I meant by that. The book builds up, so I’d like to let the reader discover the significance of the unicorn. In case someone going over this post is very curious to know, but wouldn’t want to read the entire book, please send me a message and we shall take it from there.
Until then, my dear Unicorns & Wild Horses, my sweet Seahorses, and poor Domesticated Horses, let’s kick the habit – because you all can!
