For lucid dreamers, telekinetic experts and cigarette quitters, please press one

Some memories stay with us from childhood, like being a non-smoker, or perhaps being impressed, like I was, by the telekinesis practitioners, or by the ones who master lucid dreaming. The former means they can move objects with their mind, the latter that they can control the characters, the narrative, and the environment of their dreams. I vaguely remember seeing documentaries about them both as a kid, and I recall feeling disappointed for lacking those talents.

Well, I’ve got news for you. By quitting smoking you are retraining yourself not to touch the cigarettes and the matches ever again, therefore you can consider that you are as cool as the other two, because they all work in the territory of the brain.

They are related, and if they would exist as real jobs registered with the Office of Professions, they would probably be under the same category: “for lucid dreamers (L.D.), telekinetic experts (T.E.) and cigarette quitters (C.Q.), please press one.”

What’s my point, you wonder? Smoking is the most common habit broken, and this is why ex-smokers are everywhere compared to the other two.

Actually, when letting go of the cigarettes we are doing a little bit of both: we redeem the control (like L.D. do), and we move a big obstacle out of the way (like T.E. do).

As we are looking around starting back in 2020, it is visible that bad dreams have become our reality. However, by quitting smoking you let a good dream thrive; you are just another kind of lucid dreamer who moves non-imaginary objects with their mind.

Not only is quitting cigarettes the most encountered out of the three, but it is also the most significant, and maybe this is why we are all endowed with the means to accomplish it.

Bending a fork with your energy or getting out of a nightmare won’t save lives, but ceasing smoking does it every day. It is the most practical and most relevant mental exercise, and everyone is trained to be a non-smoker since they were a child. (Just press # 1 !)
